Cowra - Japanese
Gardens and Cultural Centre
Having driven through Cowra
on dozens of occasions, usually in a rush to get somewhere else, we decided
that we would make a point of stopping to view the Japanese Gardens on
the way to Queensland...and the start of our trip around Oz.
Established by the Cowra Tourist
and Development Corporation, the gardens opened to the public as a full-time
tourist attraction in October 1979.
Beautifully landscaped, peaceful
and serene - the gardens are constructed on a site with an exceptional
rock formation at the top of a hill, a prominent Shugoseki or
"Guardian City". To the right of Shugoseki is a large flat topped
rock known as the Yogoseki, also a "Guardian Deity". the place
where God steps down from the heavens. |
